In this day and age, we are being told more and more what is good for us. Most of the time, however, these advisors have a conflict of interest. It does not have to mean that the advice from outside is basically harmful or wrong. I would only like to point out that personal responsibility is too strongly suppressed by convenience. It is not meant to be a satire on society here. I too think it’s great to be able to do many things more easily and efficiently through technology.
The trick is not to make yourself dependent on outside care. Always be responsible for your own basic needs. In order to take care of your basic needs and, more importantly, the basic needs of your family, you must first learn about basic needs. You should continue to deepen your knowledge of this subject at regular intervals. The temptation to forget your basic needs is frighteningly great.
I will not sort the basic needs by more or less important. The following order is arbitrary.
Sleep
Your day begins and you already know which basic need you have neglected. Everyone knows that sleep is important, but more and more people neglect this basic need. It is often the blue light waves as a scapegoat. It would be much more clever to think about a serious evening routine. The negative effects of chronic sleep deprivation have been known for decades. Motivating with fear is usually less sustainable. Therefore, rather look at the positive effects that make you a lot happier. Humans are adaptable but creatures of habit. If you go to bed at the same time every day and get up at the same time, you will eventually wake up without an alarm clock. Of course, this only works if you stick to it on weekends as well. You don’t have to become dogmatic about it, however, a healthy biorhythm is a rock.
Improve sleeping conditions:
If your friends are calling you a walking chainsaw, I would get to the bottom of it. A friend of mine was able to have surgery to fix the breathing stoppages in the middle of the night. Snoring can be a reason if you wake up with a dry throat.
If you sleep next to a noisy street, it’s quite annoying. Custom earplugs fitted to your ears can do damage control. This hearing protection is available at most hearing aid stores. I had my earplugs made at the hearing aid store “KIND”. In the manufacturing process, a thick plastic compound is poured into your hearing canals. This is the reason why, after hardening, they fit very comfortably and provide the best possible protection.
A sleep mask will help you against light pollution.
If you do without it, you can be woken up by a light alarm clock.

Movement
I am deliberately mentioning exercise here because I do not want to go into sports. The general recommendation is to take 10,000 steps per day. Depending on the profession, you have the steps after 6 hours together. However, the 10,000 steps should not be seen as the upper limit. If possible, the stairs should always be preferred to the elevator. The lymphatic system has no pump like your bloodstream. To get it moving, you need to move. Allow yourself a short walk through the woods when you are angry or stressed. Do it regularly and watch your well-being change.
High quality food
Here I do not want to religiously go into the different diets such as vegan, vegetarian, paoli or other. Either way, the view is constantly changing what is healthy and what is unhealthy. An example of this phenomenon: the breakfast egg.
If you eat low quality food, you’ll be less able to absorb important nutrients. You will also absorb more toxins. This can even go so far that you still eat unhealthy food by seemingly healthy food. I exaggerate here on purpose. Ask yourself why food is not called a satiator.
For sustainable and ethically correct agriculture it needs more effort than if the farmer works with artificial fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and factory farming. I don’t want to up or downgrade any form of agriculture here. A healthy compromise could bring us much more benefits than religious fanaticism. However, don’t expect high quality if you pay as little as possible.
Social security
People need people to be happy. In hard times, it opens your eyes. A family is not always easy and often troublesome, but it is the most constant social security.
Having friends also means being a friend. If you are a friend, it gives you pleasure to help and assist them. Even the strongest will need help at some point. Even if you have always been the one to rush to help. If you have helped a hundred friends and only ten end up helping you, you may be disappointed. Still, it would be worth it even if only one friend helped you.
Making more and more new friends may cause you to lose more and more old friends. They then become acquaintances. It is in the nature of things that you cannot maintain more than 100 contacts on a regular basis. For friendships, the maximum number is even lower.
The people around you can make you big or small. They can warn you that you’re about to hit a cliff or cheer you on to run faster. It’s not always bad to be criticized by friends. It’s not always good to be rapped by friends. It’s not black and white. Friendships have colors.
Never blame your friends for your failures. Your friends are who they are, and you chose them.
No financial worries
Before you can even start building wealth, you need to be debt free. Under no circumstances borrow money from friends for consumption or even take out a loan. Spend only the money you own (exceptions are real estate rented to others, starting a business, or studying/training to increase your income).
If you have debt, it subliminally weighs on your conscience. Worries about your future won’t let you sleep. You lose focus when you constantly think about your money worries. Finally, it’s like a mental menhir that you have to carry everywhere.
Charlatans shamelessly take advantage of your situation by promising you quick money. You trust them and end up in an even bigger debt trap. It is human to fall for such a trick when financial worries crush you.
How can we prevent such a thing?
The answer sounds simple. Live below your standard of living and increase your income in the long run. The implementation is more difficult than it seems. Discipline and modesty are the most important qualities.
With an Excel spreadsheet you can set up a budget to keep track of your economic situation in the long run. I personally use it for my asset classes, consumer spending and the running costs of obligations.
If you have saved 3,000 euros again, or for the first time, think twice about whether it is necessary to buy this modern TV or to keep it back as a reserve. Sometimes it is also a nice feeling to know that you could theoretically buy it. The feeling of financial security will give you more quality of life.
